Eye Emergency Manual 2.3.1

This application is intended for use by medical, nursing, and allied health professionals working in Emergency Departments across New South Wales. It offers a concise and accessible reference for identifying key signs and symptoms, as well as managing common ocular emergencies.

Additionally, the app serves as a practical aid in triaging patients to appropriate levels of care within the healthcare system.

The content was developed collaboratively by ophthalmic and emergency clinicians affiliated with the NSW Agency for Clinical Innovation (ACI). While these guidelines have not undergone a formal evidence-based clinical practice guideline development process, they reflect a consensus opinion reached by an expert clinician working group. They are meant to serve as a general reference rather than a definitive protocol, and clinicians should apply their judgment in each case. The consensus is based on the best available information at the time of creation.

Designed for ease of use, the manual features extensive graphic content and is organized into sections covering anatomy, basic ophthalmic assessment (including history taking, examination techniques, diagnostic procedures, and treatment), and management of common eye presentations.
